(scroll down for update)
This might be the hardest post I have ever written.
I won't be posting anymore for an indefinite period of time. It could be a month, two, or more. I was just appointed a sales district manager in Luxor and I need all the time I have to prepare myself for this upcoming new life as well as prove myself in this very challenging new job. For the very first time I will be living completely alone in a far town, a far depart from my comfortable life here in Cairo. I know I would be able to handle cooking, but I don't know how I am going to handle washing my clothes. I never washed my clothes before, our housekeeper enters my room everyday, picks up the laundry and then does the job.
Anyway, I don't know how I would live without my parents, my friends, the club, the places I hang out in, and this blog. I really hope I would get my life and work settled there in order to return back to blogging as soon as possible.
I still can't imagine how life would be in Luxor. The town is very quite and very different from tourist destinations such as Sharm el Sheikh and Hurghada. People go to Sharm and Hurghada to have fun on the beach and under the sea water, tourists go to Luxor to see the remains of our ancient civilization. And there are no Russian babes in Luxor!!!! The Luxor tourist is your average camera carrying 50-60-70 year old European and Japanese. A guy who will be reporting to me told me the last time I was there: "there are no girls here, I dried up."!
Anyway, please subscribe to my feed in order to know when I'll post again.
Till we meet again.
Update:
I just can't go without reporting this. Abdel Kareem was sentenced to 4 years in prison. Abdel Kareem was sent to jail because he merely stated his opinion on the country's regime and religion.
What really upsets me is the fact that Abdel Kareem enjoys very little sympathy in the Egyptian street because of what he said about Islam and religion in general. Some are calling for his execution.
Abdel Kareem will enjoy sympathy in the Egyptian street once Islam gets reformed. Once cussing Mohamed, Allah, whatever does not send you to prison or the gallows. If Abdel Kareem was living 500 years ago in Europe and he would have wrote the same thing about Christianity, he would have been burned at stake. Luckily Christianity got reformed, Christians in Europe understood that God would not be a very happy person if they imprisoned or killed someone who wrote/said something they considered offensive to the Christian faith. This is the reason why Dan Brown and Tom Hanks are still alive today.
One day Islam will reform and the future Abdel Kareems will not fear prison and execution anymore. In the meantime, we're stuck with stupidity and cruelty.
